Aaron Schmitz

Hi, my name’s Aaron Schmitz. Growing up in Red Lake Falls, I spent a lot of time on the rivers chasing crappies, cats, and walleyes. After high school, I attended Northland Community College in Thief River Falls, MN where I received my degree in Criminal Justice and continued my passion for sports by playing both baseball and football for the Pioneers. After moving to Bemidji in 2002 to further my education and baseball career, I soon found myself in love with the many bodies of water within a short distance of Bemidji. With several years of experience in the sporting goods industry, I have always enjoyed sharing stories, tactics, and tips with fellow fishermen. I used to co-own and operate Big Boys Fish House rentals on Lake Bemidji. Building relationships with clients who may not get to fish often enough and helping them experience what we are blessed with enjoying on a daily basis was gratifying.

My ultimate passion is chasing walleye and I participate in as many local fishing tournaments as possible every year. Whether it’s live bait rigging or jigging 1/8 oz Fire-Ball jigs through the cabbage adjusting your technique and presentation is the difference between fishing and catching! When not on the water I’m spending time with family and friends enjoying the great outdoors.
