Ted Peck started out as a fishing guide on the Mississippi over 35 years ago. He has been communicating the outdoors experience even longer, with at least one outdoor column or broadcast published/aired every week since 1973. Peck currently writes a weekly column in the Janesville Gazetteāfor which he was named Wisconsin Outdoor Writer of the Year in 1999. He has been a regular monthly contributor to Game & Fish Publications since 1987.
Ted Peck was born and raised in Carroll County, Ill. where incomparable natural resources enabled him to begin the lifelong work of sharing the outdoors experience, starting as a fishing guide on the Mississippi over 35 years ago. He has been communicating the outdoors experience even longer, with at least one outdoor column or broadcast published/aired every week since 1973.

He has worked with eight different TV production companies on various hunting and fishing segments– appearing on ESPNās Anglinā USA, Midwest Outdoors TV Magazine, Northland Adventures, Babe Winkelmanās Good Fishing, Tom Gruenwald Outdoors, and Discover Wisconsin
Prior to moving to Iowa in 2006, Peck had weekly radio fishing shows on WJVL-Janesville, Wi. and WXRX, Rockford, Il. for 15 years.
In 2011 he authored a book āMississippi Musings with the Old Guideā which is a collection of vignettes and observances from his experiences as a fishing guide. In 2015 Peck introduced his own signature series lure, the āTeddy Catā.
When not communicating the outdoors experience in broadcast and print, Peck continues to carry this message with seminars, public appearances, and work as a guide, hunting and fishing an average of 200 days every year all over the United States. He holds a USCG captainās OUPV license and is a licensed fishing guide.

Peck retired from the Beloit FD in 2001 with the rank of Lieutenant. While on the job he served as Public Information Officer in addition to firefighting/ rescue/paramedic duties. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1973 with a BS in journalism.
Ted Peck has been married to his wife Candy for 45 years and has two adult children, Jessica and Emily, who are both avid anglers and outdoorswomen. The Peck family lives in rural New Albin, Ia.
