BEMIDJI, Minn. (June 19, 2023) ā Itās one of those rare feats that anglers only dream ofā¦ But for Jeff āGussyā Gustafson, his recent 2023 Bassmaster Classic win was over 20 years in the making, as the Keewatin, Ontario-based angler has been plying the water almost every day of his lifeāfrom his pre-teens through today.
To celebrate his wināand act as a send-off for the B.A.S.S. Elite Tournament on the Sabine River in TexasāJohn Peterson put together a party at his residence to celebrate the win of one of their very own.
āNorthland Fishing Tackle founders John and Duane Peterson have had a relationship with Jeff Gustafson for the better part of 20 years. Northland was one of Jeffās very first sponsors,ā says Mike Anselmo, Marketing Director, Northland Fishing Tackle.
TThe group in attendance were industry friends and family: the Lindners; Gary āMr. Walleyeā Roach; retired Rapala lure designer, Mark Fisher; competing anglers from the Fort Frances, Ontario, area; Brian āBroā Brosdahl; and a host of other fishing notables.
According to Anselmo the event was a time for āhandshakes and hugs.ā
Anselmo continues: āIt was great to celebrate with John Peterson and the Northland crew: Bro, the Lindners, and everyone else. This cast of characters have all known each other for a really long time, and it was really special getting to bring the trophy to Bemidji.ā
Gussy concludes: āI want to thank everyone for their support. It really means lot to Shelby and me. The party is over now. John Peterson and I are now going to focus on beating all our friends at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship on July 20-22.ā
